Event #2 of the 2026 Carleton County Poker Tour (CCPT) brought together an elite field of five hardened competitors. By “elite,” we of course mean five guys who know each other’s bluffs, snack preferences, and bad-beat stories by heart.

Hosted at Joe’s Poker Place on February 18, the night promised drama. It delivered. It also delivered what some are calling “the most statistically suspicious heater in CCPT history.”

🎯 The Night’s Point Battle

With 54 total points up for grabs across four rounds, the race was tight from the first shuffle.

Points – Event #2

  • Luc – 14

  • Joe – 13

  • Asbell – 11

  • Tony – 8

  • Duane – 8

Luc edged out Joe by a single point in the nightly standings, putting together a consistent 5-5-3-1 performance across the four rounds. Calm. Calculated. Dangerous.

Joe, meanwhile, posted a rollercoaster 4-3-1-5 line. Quiet early. Explosive late. Suspiciously explosive.

Asbell made his presence known with an 11-point effort, highlighted by a big 5-point round. Tony and Duane split 8 points each, both showing flashes of brilliance mixed with moments they would prefer never be mentioned again (but will be).

💰 Money Talks

While points decide pride, money decides who buys breakfast the next morning.

Winnings – Event #2

  • 🥇 Luc – $80

  • 🥈 Asbell – $40

  • 🥉 Joe – $35

  • Tony – $10

  • Duane – $10

Luc didn’t just win the point battle — he took home the biggest slice of the $175 prize pool. Efficient. Ruthless. Probably smiling quietly.

Joe cashed, but for the second straight event didn’t dominate the money column the way he’s dominated the headlines.

👀 The Joe Situation

Let’s address it.

Joe has now won Event #1 and Event #2 overall in the CCPT standings.

Is it skill?
Is it timing?
Is it “super push totally luck”?

The poker community remains divided.

Despite Luc winning more money on the night, Joe’s consistent accumulation of points keeps him firmly in first place in the 2026 Yearly Standings:

📊 Yearly Points (After Event #2)

  • Joe – 30

  • Luc – 28

  • Duane – 24

  • Tony – 20

  • Keith – 13

  • Dan – 12

  • Pete – 11

  • Asbell – 11

Two points separate Joe and Luc. That’s basically one well-timed bluff or one horribly played middle pair.

💵 Season Money Race

Over the full 2026 season so far:

Gross Winnings

  • Luc – $130

  • Joe – $100

  • Duane – $50

  • Asbell – $40

  • (Others chasing)

Luc leads in total cash. Joe trails but remains firmly in the hunt.

When factoring entry fees, the Net Winnings tell an even more dramatic story:

  • Luc: +$60

  • Joe: +$30

  • Asbell: +$5

  • Duane: -$20

  • Dan: -$5

  • Keith: -$5

  • Tony: -$40

  • Pete: -$25

Tony is currently funding the league’s long-term sustainability plan. We appreciate his contribution.

🏆 Standings Drama

After two events:

PlayerPosition
Joe1st
Luc2nd
Duane3rd
Tony4th
Keith5th
Dan6th
Pete7th
Asbell7th (technically present)

Joe holds the top spot again. Luc is breathing down his neck. Duane is lurking. Tony is unpredictable. Asbell is statistically confusing.

🎭 Final Thoughts from Event #2

  • Luc was the money king.

  • Joe remains the points king.

  • Asbell proved he’s not just here for snacks.

  • Tony and Duane showed resilience (and selective memory).

  • The field of five made it feel like a final table from the first hand.

With only two events in the books, 2026 is shaping up to be the tightest CCPT season yet. If Joe keeps running like this, we may need to inspect the deck. If Luc keeps stacking cash, the leaderboard is going to flip sooner rather than later.

Event #3 can’t come soon enough.

Until then — shuffle up and deal. 🃏
