World Wide Photo Walk 2023
Below are the images from the walk that I participated in and additionally I have added some information about the walk locations. Our participation was organized by our local camera club Photo Fredericton. This was a very well attended event and very enjoyable.
Location One – From Their Website:
“Gateway Wetland Nature Trails and Conservation Centre Project
The Town officially launched its plans for the Gateway Wetland Nature Trails and Conservation Centre on Friday, 12 June 2015 with an announcement that was held on site at the proposed location of the new adventure trail head at Gateway Drive.
The Town of Oromocto initially conceptualized this development back in 2005 for the purpose of constructing a wetland trail and visitor information centre. The project was delayed for a number of years as other infrastructure activities took priority. In 2014 this project was resurrected with two major partners, Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Oromocto River Watershed Association.
Council’s vision is to transform this 17 hectare site into an area where residents and visitors to the area can experience the natural phenomenon of the wetlands, as well as an education centre that will promote responsible environmental conservation and enhancement. The project will be phased in over three years with the first two years focusing on the trail development and enhancement while the final year will see the construction of the Conservation Centre. The estimated value of the total project is 2.2 million dollars.
“This is a very easy project to support as it will benefit not only our citizens and students, but will also benefit our business community as we bring more visitors to the area!” Mayor Bob Powell ”
Location Two – From Their Website:
“The Hanwell Recreation Park is located at 18 Nature Park Drive next to the Community Recreation Centre (off the Hanwell Road across from the Eaglewood Subdivision).
The kiosk has a map of the walking/ski/snowshoe trails as well as guidelines for use.
The Hanwell Recreation Park is on leased crown land and is available dawn to dusk for the enjoyment of residents. Parking is available in the Community Recreation Centre parking lot – parking is NOT permitted along Nature Park Drive as this is an active roadway – Park users must park in the parking lot.
With generous grants from the Province of New Brunswick, the rural community was able to purchase 30 sets of snowshoes and 15 sets of cross-country skis. With another generous Active Communities Grant (provided by the Sports and Recreation branch of the Dept. of Tourism, Heritage and Culture), we are getting an additional 8 pairs of skis in 2021! You and your family can borrow this equipment at the municipal office during business hours free of charge and must be brought back the following business day. Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (one piece of ID must be provided, those under 18 must have a parent/guardian with them to pick up the equipment). No reservations, first come-first served.”
Photo Walk Slide Show
Gateway Wetlands Photos
Hanwell Recreation Park
My favorite image from the Gateway Wetlands Shoot. This one I think is more about what the image represents then the quality of the image. I believe this is what the park was created for. Local families to get out and enjoy a wilderness type area in the heart of the city.
My favorite image from the Hanwell Recreation Park was much more difficult to choose. I enjoyed many of the images I captured here and was difficult to choose one. I especially loved the abundance and variety of Mushroom shots that created so much opportunity. In the end I choose this Black and White conversion that Les lite form the bottom for me. Just a personal preference.
Great pictures Tony, enjoyed the slide show!
Thanks Louise glad you enjoyed it. Have to do something with all those pictures right! LOL.Thanks
