Esca Gourmet Pizza

From Their Website:

“Open for lunch and dinner service, Esca specializes in gourmet pizza and offers an array of delicious starters and entrees.

Expect an enticing list of wines (regular selections, as well as vintages), a handsome selection of whiskeys and bourbons, and twelve draught beer taps featuring 12 Ontario craft brews. For cocktail lovers, Esca’s drinks list has something for everyone.

Located at 317 Pitt Street, locals will recognize the building as the former home of the LCBO. With the help of Bourgon Construction, and the support of Cornwall’s Heart of the City program, the building has undergone dramatic change in the interior, as well as to the exterior.

Esca features a 1000 square foot patio on the south side of the building – a great place to enjoy the warm weather with a cold drink.”

My Review

Very nice venue in downtown Cornwall. They were open a little later which was perfect for us. After the day on the road, we just wanted to relax. Started with a Caesar and followed with a Melini Chinati reserva. The wine parried nicely with the pizza. The pizza was think crust nicely baked with lots of flavor. The wings unfortunately were overdone and much to crunchy for my taste. So the wings were a failure but everything else about the food and the evening was great. That been said it does affect my review.

LCBO Notes

“300 years of history along with constant innovation creates a modern expression of Chianti. This Riserva has 18 months in oak, adding spice and depth. The wine has aromas of red fruit and berries, with balsamic and nutty notes. Extra dry, with medium-plus body and supple tannins. Superb with grilled meats and aged cheeses.”
