Becky’s Diner opened on March 13, 1991 in the heart of Portland’s working waterfront district.

Up until that point, I had spent my life being a mother to six kids, as well as years of working jobs in different kitchens and dining rooms in the Greater Portland area. Driven by the need to be financially stable and care for my family, I decided it was time to take a risk and open my own place. The goal was to build an early morning restaurant that served delicious food at reasonable prices. With a lot of hard work and support/help from family, friends and the surrounding community, Becky’s Diner became a reality.

Some things have changed over the years, including a large renovation project in 2007 to improve upon the old cinder block building we started in and add on a 2nd story. We make it a point to use only the freshest ingredients and locally sourced seafood available, always thankful for our proximity to the hard working fisherman and lobsterman of Portland and surrounding communities. We have joined efforts with the working waterfront in recent years to preserve their way of life amongst the growth and development in Portland.

Though I still show up daily at the diner, the next generation of my family is now playing an integral role in its operation. Sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren work in unison with the rest of our amazing staff to continue serving the hundreds of customers that come through our doors each day.
