PLEASURES FROM HERE
L’Entrecôte Saint-Jean is located in the heart of Old Quebec, a UNESCO world heritage gem, a few steps from the Porte Saint-Jean. The restaurant opened its doors in 1983, and the formula, of French origin and inspired by the concept already existing in Paris and Geneva, has remained the same for all these years: the entrecôte, its fries and its secret sauce! With its stone walls and its terrace in summer, our French bistro promises you a warm… and tasty experience!
THE SPECIALITY
L’Entrecôte Saint-Jean offers you the best steak and fries inside the fortified city. Fine grilled steak and its closely guarded secret mustard sauce, homemade matchstick fries, walnut salad, chocolate profiteroles… A real delight in a warm atmosphere.
My Review
This is a busy restaurant with great food, excellent decor, and atmosphere. We were seated next to an open window to the street in Old Quebec but inside. The breeze from the warm summer night just added to the experience. I started with a nice Barossa wine from Italy. The house specialty is Steak Frite. I was not disappointed. A juicy tasty steak with fresh cut shoe string fries was amazing. The order came with a starter salad and desert. The desert was CHOCOLATE. They were worth the wait. PROFITEROLES

Stylishly labelled in black, with its key information pointing to its Hoffmann Vineyard source, specifically the Mickan Block that is much revered by the fraternity of connected winemakers. Firstly the colour – a magenta/black vibrancy. Eye-catching. The aroma is pure Hoffmann territory: great, dark, ripe Shiraz with oak that allows the fruit front and centre position. Nose and palate in harmony, a sense of freshness even at maximum ripeness, with a minerally feel in the mouth, structurally solid and chewy yet full of energy and palate excitement. Very smartly crafted from start to finish.
